The province of North West lies in the northern region of South Africa and shares a border with the African country, Botswana. North West is known as the “platinum province” for the wealth of metal that has been mined here throughout the years.
North West has an abundance of wildlife, game parks and nature reserves like the Pilanesberg National Park, the Madikwe Game Reserve as well as the Rustenburg Nature Reserve.
The landscape is mainly flat, with regions of scattered trees and grasslands. These conditions, along with the Vaal river that flows along the south of the province, creates the ideal condition for road, as well as foot safari . If an up-close experience is not your cup of tea, then the local wildlife can also be viewed by an impressive air – balloon voyage.
North West has a number of major tourist attractions, including the internationally famous Sun City. Various cultural and historical attractions are also on offer in this province, such as the Vredefort and the Taung hominid fossil site.
